Gabhann Dunne
(Born in Co Cavan in 1975. His art practice explores the ways in which animals and their physical environment shape the human identity. His work also provides insights on animal-human relationships through symbolism and sheds light on how we 'other' animals in order to maintain a privileged position.
Gabhann studied art in the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) where he concentrated on painting and graduated with an honours degree in Fine Art in 1997 and is currently pursuing a Masters in Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD). Gabhann's work has appeared in many Irish/international group shows and in solo shows at Broadstone Galleries (Aug, 2006), the Alternative Entertainments Gallery (Apr-May 2008) and more recently at the nag (Oct-Nov 2009). Gabhann received the Craig Hennessy Scholarship Award and the Whytes Award for Painting for his entry to the Hibernian Academy's 2009 Annual Show.
